Use the right hand column for smaller pieces of information, that are maybe related to the main article. This is done with modules which are very similar to articles.
These will be set up for you to start with, but it is quite straight forward to ad more if you need to. Any text you put here will be forced into the column width, however any images you choose to place here must be no more than 185 pixels wide. You can adjust this when placing the image.
